In October 2013.the delegation of EU-China Friendship Association visited Beiing. Liaoning and Chongqing successively at the invitation of the CPAFFC. This trip enabled the Association to build a closer relationship with Chinese central and local governments and also gave the MEPs and MEP candidates an opportunity to have a better understanding of China.

During their stay in Beijing, the delegation met with Zhang Ping, Vice Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, and Xie Hangsheng, Vice Foreign Minister and also attended the banquet held by Li Jianping, Vice President of the CPAFFC. In Liaoning and Chongqing, the delegation met with Zhou Zhongxuan, Executive Vice-Governor of Liaoning Province, Tong Zhiwu, Deputy Director of Standing Committee of People's Congress of Liaoning Province and Du Liming, Deputy Director of Standing Committee of People's Congress of Chongqing Municipality respectively. 

They discussed the following issues: EU-China cooperation on investment and technologies, China's growth strategy, green development, cultural exchanges, sending MEPs to the National People's Congress of China as observers, Brexit referendum, China's investment to the UK, the roles that the Association can play in promoting the China-EU relations. The delegation also talked with the CPAFFC about building a closer relationship between the CPAFFC and more European institutions, inviting a delegation of the CPAFFC to visit the European Parliament and holding the Green Design Forum. 

The delegation and the leaders of Liaoning Province discussed the issues of government, culture, education, business, tourism, agriculture and nature cooperation. They agreed to set up 6 working groups for the above cooperation.

The delegation and the leaders of Chongqing discussed the issues of establishing Twin Cities, EU-Chongqing education cooperation, and EU investment to Chongqing.

To conclude the agreements reached at this meeting, a MOU was signed in October in the UK between the EU-China Friendship Association and Chongqing People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. The delegation also visited Chongqing Haifu Medical Technology Co.Ltd., the world first and leading manufacturer of noninvasive ultrasound therapeutic systems, and Chang'an Ford Automobile Co.Ltd., a new joint venture between Chang'an Automobile and Ford, which aims to open up the Chinese market.

On October 30, 2013, the Delegation had a meeting with Tong Zhiwu, Vice President of the Standing Committee of Liaoning Provincial People's Congress. Cooperation in government, culture, education, business, tourism, agriculture and nature were discussed.
