
On October 18, 2013, the Brussels Summit of the World Green Design Forum was held in the European Parliament Building. The Forum was co sponsored by the Europe China Friendship Association, China Guanghua Design Foundation, the International Design Federation and the China Famous Brand magazine. The Vice President of the Development Committee of the European Parliament, Councillor Nirj Deva, and the Counsellor of the State Council, Shi Dinghuan, served as co chairmen of the Forum. Zhang Lirong, Charg é d'affaires ad interim of the Chinese Mission to the European Union, was invited to attend the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.

Zhang said that the discussion on green development around green design shows that the exchanges and cooperation between China and the EU around green development are deepening. This year marks the 10th anniversary of China EU comprehensive strategic partnership. Over the past 10 years, China EU relations have developed rapidly and cooperation in the field of green development has become increasingly in-depth. China and the EU are about to hold a series of important events in Beijing, such as the Leaders' Meeting, to jointly plan the priorities of future cooperation and tap the huge potential of cooperation in green growth and urbanization. He stressed that China EU green industry development cooperation is highly complementary and has broad prospects. Zhang also introduced China's policies and measures in promoting green development, low-carbon development and circular development during the "12th Five Year Plan" period.
The theme of this forum is "Green Design Helps Global Sustainable Development". More than 200 representatives from governments, enterprises and research institutions of China and the EU have conducted extensive exchanges and negotiations on issues such as green cities, green buildings, green transportation, green communications, green home appliances, green office work, green textiles and clothing, and comprehensive utilization of renewable energy through exhibitions, conferences, exchanges and other forms, effectively promoting China and the EU in green design concepts and green technologies Cooperation and exchange in materials, equipment and other fields.
